I love you because you are LGBTQ, Muslim, Black, Latino, Asian, Native American, White, Orange, an Immigrant, Female, a Republican, a Democrat, and a friend. Even though I am sad, distraught and confused today, I respect America’s decision. When the fear and disappointment lesson I will carry on my wonderful life with love and hope, beyond the noise. I will ask my friend who is Hispanic, married and the lesbian daughter of a Muslim Egyptian/American citizen not to be afraid because as my sister reminded me today, “We will be ok; remember who you are and remember you are loved.”
No matter what tomorrow brings, we have yesterday to point to. It was the day I cast my vote for a smart, dedicated and strong woman. Thank you for breaking the ceiling for this powerful country and for a once little girl who will never again hide from ambition.
“This loss hurts. But please never stop believing that fighting for what’s right is worth it. … To all the women, and especially the young women, who put their faith in this campaign and in me, I want you to know that nothing has made me prouder than to be your champion.” – Hillary R. Clinton
